Dining Out at Shell Point

Dress Guidelines

Island Cafe and Promenade Cafe

Leisure casual breakfast and lunch:

Both the Island Cafe and Promenade Cafe are available for a very casual breakfast and lunch in a self-service atmosphere.  Shorts (of an appropriate length), T-shirts (no tank tops, please) and sandals are acceptable.  If you come in from a visit to the pool, just be sure to wear tasteful cover-up clothing and don't forget your sandals or other shoes.  Of course slacks, golf shirts, casual dresses, and other resort casual wear is always always appreciated.

Crystal Room

Sporty casual lunch:

The Crystal Room features buffet service for lunch in a relaxed atmosphere.  Shorts with comfortable shirts and blouses are acceptable.  Golf shirts, slacks, dresses and other resort casual wear are also appreciated here.  Sunday is the one day of the week when you should definitely plan to wear dinner attire at the noon meal.  Other exceptions requiring dinner attire are major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.

Dinner:

Dinner at the Crystal Room requires a slightly higher degree of tasteful resort dressing.  Slacks and skirts, shirts and blouses, and dresses are the usual attire there.  Shorts with comfortable shirts and blouses are acceptable during the months of May through September (with the exception of Sunday).  Bermuda-type walking shorts can be permitted during these months, but other styles of shorts may not routinely be worn.  And yes, jackets are always welcome though not required.  If you would like further information about the Crystal Room or any of our other dining locations, please call 454-2199.

Palm Grill

Dressy resort dinner:

If you are planning to dine at the Palm Grill, we suggest attire more appropriate for a private country club or a nice restaurant.  While suits, sport jackets and ties are not required there, they would not be out of place.  Dresses and pantsuits for the ladies, along with appropriate accessories, are definitely in order.  Collared shirts and sport slacks are also appropriate.  Shorts with comfortable shirts and blouses are acceptable.  This is where you should wear lace-up or loafer-type shoes.  For additional information regarding the Palm Grill, call 454-2059.

This is a good rule of thumb to follow - if you are not sure what to wear, it's always better to dress up than down.  Please remember that dress should always be tasteful and not detract from the overall ambiance of Shell Point, so all residents and guests have a pleasant dining experience.  And speaking of guests, you may want to advise your guests of appropriate dress for their visit to Shell Point before they arrive.  This may help make their stay more enjoyable.  Bon appetit!
