Shell Point Remembers...

John Taylor

John Taylor, formerly of 2710 Junonia at Shell Point passed away on July 18, 2007.  John is fondly remembered by many residents of Shell Point, but perhaps none more than Bob Moseley of Cellana.  John Taylor is remembered as one of the most generous people, both in big things as well as small.  John opened his home to Bob for two months following Bob's move to Shell Point, a rather prolonged guest stay, to say the least.

John provided transportation to friends for doctor's appointments or rides to the store, even when that meant he might have to stay through the appointment time, even if the doctor was running hours behind.  John remained, and without a word of complaint.

John also knew Shell Point and its people.  Beloved by everyone from residents to staff, John's time at Shell Point was well spent building relationships with others.

As a professor at Nyack College, John taught and influenced hundreds of young minds.  When Nyack needed a Dean of Men, John accepted the challenge and became the dean, building a reputation for fairness and firmness.  Later, John assisted Nyack as the chairman of the marketing committee, formed to promote Nyack as an emerging leader in the training of Christian leaders.

John Taylor did not take summers off either.  Seeing a need among the young people of Nyack for a summer opportunity, John founded Westwind Tours, a travel/tour company that explored the American West, with its lofty mountains and beautiful plains, a long-time favorite place of his.

John was well-respected and added to the lives of all who knew him.  He will be missed.
