• STAFF REMARKS

STEVE MINNIEAR

Census Report The Pavilion presently has 185 beds occupied; The Arbor has 128 of 130 units occupied and the King’s Crown has 117 units occupied. Currently 94.4% of all independent living units are occupied.

Mr. Minniear reported that Rita Southern/Arbor are completing the biennial survey. Today is the second day and the survey is usually lasts a duration of two days. A report of the results of the survey will be given at the September 2011 Shell Point Residents’ Council Meeting.

Shell Point’s Skilled Nursing Facility occupancy has been at 180-185 beds, which is good. When other Assisted Living buildings have units that become available, almost all are obligated in a short period of time. Occupancy stays good, good from a budget perspective next year.

SCOTT MOORE

Mr. Moore reported on the following two items previously presented at the May 4, 2011 Shell Point Residents’ Council Meeting:

A. Gas Grills. The following steps are now in place: All grills will be equipped with a gas gauge to monitor levels so that the tanks can be replaced prior to Court functions. Extra gas tanks are stored on property to insure an ample supply is here on site. Grills are now scheduled for a regular deep cleaning quarterly. Residents are asked to scrape down the grills after each use and then put the covers back on. Please be sure the grills have cooled sufficiently before cleaning them and before putting the covers back on.

B. Chipped Formica in the Elevators in Lucina. Consideration is being given to using stainless steel and/or counter-top grade laminate. All refurbishment of the elevator laminates will be counter-top grade. This refurbishment of elevators will take place this summer and Lucina is scheduled then.

Construction people will be advised and encouraged to put on the covers when moving of items that may be destructive. Also the movers will be advised to use the protective covers.

Russell Peters congratulated Mr. Moore on his appointment and Mr. Moore thanked him. A memo from Mr. Moore is attached to these Minutes. A more detailed organizational chart for Shell Point will be forthcoming for use during Residents’ Council training. Court Representatives were encouraged to share the information in Mr. Moore’s memo with their residents.

• SUGGESTIONS FOR THE GOOD OF SHELL POINT

Ted Rodgers commented on the number of anniversaries of Shell Point residents who have been married an impressive length of time. There are 102 couples who have been married 50 or more years; 53 of them have been married 60 years or more; and one married 73 years.

Lowell Schultz commented on the Comings and Goings reporting and depositing forms at convenient locations as well as reporting online. A discussion ensued regarding the procedures of the various Courts informing Court Representatives of absences from residences. It is especially important to report Comings and Goings during the Hurricane Season. Residents are encouraged to advise Court Representatives as well as Administration of their absences from their residences.

All residents should be aware that during the Hurricane Season when a Hurricane Warning has been issued, all items such as shopping carts and bicycles, should be removed from the parking garages. Automobiles should remain in the parking garages to which they are assigned. Additionally, all lanais should be cleared of items and should be vacant during such period. Mr. Moore indicated that assistance will be available for resident needing help in accomplishing these tasks.

It was noted that numerous bicycles that apparently have been abandoned remain parked in the various garages. Residents who own such bicycles are asked to remove them.
