Welcome to the listing of the Shell Point Library collection including those items housed in the Genealogy Library at the Woodlands Commons. There are many ways to search the libraries’ catalogs for books, audio books, DVDs, Data Discs, Journals, or music CDs. You may search by Title, Author, Subject or Call No. The following search tips may help you find specific items.

Main Library Title Search: Type as many or as few of the words in the title as you want, then press the Enter key or click Search.

Author Search: Type the author's last name. In the case of common names, adding the first name, separated by a comma, will help narrow the search. Then press the Enter key or click Search.

Call No. Search: Use the following abbreviations to find a specific type of item:

• DVD;
• LP for Large Print books;
• Audio for audio books;
• PB for Paperbacks;
• CD for music CDs.

Use the exact match checkbox in these searches; then press the Enter key or click Search.

Also under Call No. the following abbreviations are used:

• Fic for Fiction;
• B for Biography and use the exact match checkbox;
• Mys for Mystery;
• NF for Non-fiction in Large Print or Audio.

Then press the Enter key or click Search.

Category: For DVDs or music CDs, you may also search by Category, e.g. Drama, Comedy, Instrumental, Vocal or any of the categories shown for these media.

To narrow the search, you may use more than one search key. For instance, to look for only the Large Print version of any book, complete the Author or Title field and then, type LP in the Call No. field.

Genealogy Library The items located in the Genealogy Library are so indicated in the Location field. In addition to many books, the Library also has data discs and journals, and those items are indicated in the Call No. field as Data Disc and Journal. Again, you may search for genealogy items by Title, Author, Subject or Call No. When searching for a particular region, state, or family surname, try the pertinent word in the Subject field and then, in the Title field. State or regional abbreviations are sometimes used in the title or subject rather than the full word, for instance, PA rather than Pennsylvania or U.K. for United Kingdom. You may often find items by using these abbreviations in the Call No. field and checking the exact match box.
