Join artist Sun Smith-Foret—whose work is featured in the Tribby’s Above and Beyond exhibition—to hear about the concept and evolution of the Riverwork Project, a touchstone for racial equity and connectivity between and among black and white artists in the greater St. Louis region and beyond. Her quilting practice led to Riverwork and, in the years following its initial release, to paintings of the Mississippi River and surrounding landscape where she lived for 11 years. Smith-Foret will also discuss the nature of collaboration and what it means to have a materials and object-based practice with spiritual and eco-centric meaning.
